I have said it before, and I will say it again- I cannot believe how fast the time is going! Lucas is already six months old and is sitting up, has two teeth and started solids. Elena is still mothering him as much as she can; getting him blankets when he is sleeping, helping me get him up in the morning and even feeding him dinner. He loves his "tomatoes" as Elena calls them; we call them sweet potatoes. We have been very busy lately celebrating Thanksgiving and getting ready for Christmas. We have seen Santa two times already. Poor Elena is still scared to death of him, but I am sure she will get over it as soon as she sees what he has in store for her on Christmas morning.
Lucas recently went in for his six month appointment and is still off the charts! He is in the 96% for height at 28 inches and his head is still off the charts at over 100%; the Dr. even had to re-measure to get the correct circumference! We just keep saying that he will be a smart boy! And believe it or not, he is only in the 88% for weight at 20 lbs and 3 oz- he is one solid little guy! He is still the happiest baby! He flirts with all the ladies- when I take him to daycare he just stares at Jacquie until she looks at him then he just giggles and lunges for her; luckily she adores him too!
I am trying to be a little more active on the blog.. These kids are keeping us very busy, and laughing a lot! Yesterday I got a text from daycare saying that Elena had been put down for a nap and Jacquie went to go check on her. She'd had a pile of clothes to put away on the end of her bed and when she came into the room, Elena had on her husband's underwear! Jacquie had a good laugh out of that! Lucas is always good daycare too. She gets such a kick out of how much he talks and squeals, then will be fast asleep 2 second later. The two of them are so cute to watch together and I try so hard to get it on video, but neither one of them will cooperate when they notice the camera is on. The other day, Lucas was playing in his exersaucer and Elena held his hands and started swaying back and forth and singing to him. She also likes to climb into it with him and play with him. I can only hope that these two continue to get along so well as they get older! Oh, and Lucas recently tried sweet potatoes for the first time- he wasn't so sure about them at first, but then decided that he loved them! Elena really wanted to help feed him, but settled for cleaning up his face for him. She is a very good little helper!!
We celebrated Elena's second birthday a little over a month ago. We doubled up on the fun and had her and Lucas baptized the same day; such a nice girl to let her brother share in her special day!! Uncle Keith was able to fly out as well, which was great seeing as he is Lucas' Godfather :) Elena had her two year check up she is in the 35% for weight (25#9oz) 88.3% for height (2'10.75) and 36% for her head- she has finally grown into it :) Lucas also had his 4 month appointment and is quite the big guy! He is in the 86% for weight (17#9oz), 82% for height (2'2") and off the charts for his head size; this is making it very difficult to find him a winter hat!! He is still a happy baby, and the two of them are still getting along very well! Elena loves to spin him around when he is in his exersaucer, and he likes it just as much! They both just giggle at each other. Elena also had her very first haircut a couple weeks ago... only took her two years, but she did amazing! She sat very still and watched Dora and then talked about it for days. Both kids are growing up too quickly. Elena is learning her colors, loves playing with all her toys she got for her birthday - especially her puzzles. Lucas loves to laugh and smile and has slept through the night a few times. The past two nights have been great- he has slept until almost 8 am!! Here's hoping this continues!
The summer is over, mommy is back and work and Lucas is three months old!! Where does the time go? We had an amazing summer! Elena is getting used to having her "little" brother around. Whether she is stacking all the towels on him, or "feeding" him or laying next to him after bath time; she just wants to be by him. "Little" Lucas is already 16 pounds and is happy as ever! Though he is still not sleeping through the night, Lucas is all smiles and giggles while he is awake; makes those 2 and 4 am wake-ups much more bearable! Lucas turned three months while I was in California visiting my brother. It was tough to be away for so long, but the kids and dad did great, and mom had an awesome trip to California!
